Well, we've returned home from our Amish journey. We actually came home late yesterday, and I was too tired to write about it.
We had a really good time. Friday we got to Berlin in time for a parade, independence Day is Monday, you know. It was a nice, small town parade, full of what makes the town be what it is. There were 4-H groups, local queens, and even a giant hotdog. Miracle got all sorts of candy, so our visit was paying off already. And afterwards we walked around town looking for a place to eat, and ended up back across from the motel we were staying in. We had a wonderful Amish dinner, and Ranelle had some peanutbutter cup pie (it looked sinful). Miracle and I ended the evening with a swim, which gave Ranelle some quiet time. Not a bad start to our vacation.
Saturday was just as fun. We got a free continental breakfast, and even some fresh made Belgian waffles. mmmmmmm, waffles!
We walked around Berlin first, with a stop in a doll shop for Ranelle and Miracle. We also visited an odds-n-ends place, a kitchen utensil place, and a hot pepper gallery. We had tons of places to go, and we hadn't even left town yet !! We tried to find an Amish farm, and were quite disappointed to find not really a farm, but basically a mini-mall with a little train ride beside it. So off we went, and stumbled upon a chocolate maker's store. mmmmm, chocolate! After that pit stop, we looked for the 'World's Biggest cuckoo Clock'. Along the way, we saw some beautiful country side, and eventually came to a place that seemed to be an Amish restaurant offering live Bluegrass music. We couldn't help but giggle a bit at that. Finally, we got to a town past the clock place... time to turn around (not a strange ting for us on vacation). We finally found the place with the clock, and had a wonderful meal as well. And, on the menu, was a note about their Saturday night live Bluegrass... If we had just looked past the oddity, we would have seen the truth.
We drove around more, looking for a few places and finally made our way to a putt-putt course. Yes, we went to Amish Country, and had to putt-putt. It was a challenging course, with one hole requiring you to hit the ball hard enough to go up a ramp and jump 20ft or so to the green. I couldn't help it. I stood there in my 'stance' and said, "This is stupid!" Even in retrospect, it was a very fun course, but still stupid.

We finished our day driving toward the Longaberger 'BIG BASKET' office complex. We made a side stop along the way to get some fresh cheese (horseraddish for me). We finally got to Zanesville, and the basket, and took Miracle's picture in front of it. From there we headed home, and were so, so happy to finally be home. We were so tired, it was nowhere near funny. We got all unpacked, washed up, and got in bed by 10:30.
And that was our AmishLand adventure.
