Grace's school participates in Speech Meet. She memorized a 2 stanza poem and did received a superior rating at her school. This qualified her to advance to the next level.
This past Saturday we traveled to Galoway for the next competition. There were over two hundred children from first through eighth grades, competing in, I think, five different categories. Grace's group was the largest- 22 registered first graders for poetry. She was the seventh one to go, and she knocked it out of the park. She received an "excellent" rating and a beautiful red ribbon. Her favorite part, however, was the popcorn shrimp, baked Cheetos, and strawberry milkshake she had for supper!
