Sam and I had the house to ourselves this evening. So we enganged in some mother/son bonding over some cartoons.
My favorite was A Fright Before Christmas. It was Bugs Bunny and the Tasmanian Devil. Tas was dressed as Santa, and he kept eating various furnishings. Sam's response was always the same:
"That not nice!"
I think maybe we use that a little too often.

We can get no useful information as to what is so frightening about enclosed stair ways. Even talking about it after the fact elicits tears. We are at a complete loss.

Then I would keep him from enclosed stairways until he is older and able to talk about the fear or it just passes with age. Could be "just a phase".
If anything works let me know. I'm still terrified of mice/rats!
