Today we formalized the adoption process with the State of Ohio. The Honorable Jan Michael Long heard our petition for adoption - the process of Ohio recognizing the Chinese adoption - and declared Grace, Grace. Before this, Grace was legally ours, and was certified by the USA as a naturalized citizen. However, she had a Chinese birth certificate, and her records all tied back to China. This is now changed. She will be getting an Ohio birth certificate (2-weeks to 6-months from now, nothing like the government at work), we can more easily get her SS#, and she will have an easier time in the future with her records solidly established in her name in the USA.
PRAISE GOD !!
It was a short process, not much longer than the Chinese formal petition. Yes, the Chinese process took a while, but the actual "do you want this" part was minutes. The events of today took 10 minutes, max. This included the reading of the petition, verifying we were who we said we were, and the 'personal interviews'. Ranelle was nervous, Miracle was freaked out last night, but was fine today. Me, I was me. So.... Without further ado, I present the official Grace Tian Eileen.
