Charlie Has a Sad

Every year at this time, as surely as we'll watch The Grinch and feel sorry for Max, Charlie takes to sleeping underneath the Christmas tree. Often, he won't even wait until it's completely decorated to stake out his spot, daring us to make him move.

(On a side note, there's a story about making him move. It was time to put his flea medicine on him this month, and he was, of course, under the tree. Miracle tried to coax him out, but he ignored her. He was too far back for her to get hold of. What were we to do? I went to the laundry room and grabbed the thing you use to get down cobwebs. I could use it to drive him out! Unfortunately, with the position of the tree, the position of the furniture, and my incredible luck, I was only able to jab him in the face. Repeatedly. And he still didn't move. So, I jabbed him some more. Eventually he moved and Miracle grabbed him, but not before we laughed a lot.)

Over the past week, presents started appearing underneath the tree. Charlie was grumpy about it, but there was still room for him so he tolerated them. Then the unthinkable and appalling happened- there was no more room for Charlie. There were presents under the tree and in front of the tree, and no way for him squeeze under.

So now he sits in front of it, glaring. He goes into Sam and Grace's room and lays in front of their tree (it's too small for him to fit under, even without presents).

It won't be a Merry Christmas for Charlie.
