Oh So Random Randomness

There's not a whole lot going on.

Grace and Sam are napping. Mike is sweeping out the pool. Miracle is doing something on her laptop.

Just a lazy Sunday afternoon. So , why not liven it up with a whole lot of nothin' much.

We have one week of summer break left, then it's back to school. Grace will be starting Kindergarten and Miracle the eighth grade. It just doesn't seem right that either of them are that old!

We haven't actually used our pool yet this year. Mike's been having "issues" with the chemicals. Hopefully it's alright now because we're having homegroup here tonight, and the kids are expecting to swim!

Mike has worked for the bank for 11 years now. Miracle wasn't even 2 when he started up there. The only things there were the bank building (at half the current size) a few restaurants and a lot of corn fields. I guess the amphitheater was there also. It's amazing how that area has grown and changed in the last 11 years.

At a cookout last Tuesday, I told a group of ladies how weird it is to be almost 40 and to have two little kids. It's honestly not something I ever imagined. Miracle was an only for so long...

Speaking of which, do you realize if she was still an only, Mike and I would have the house to ourselves in 5 years?! Choices and consequences, people. Choices and consequences.

Another consequence we're facing is the new house. We're hoping to have it built in time to have Miracle's graduation party in it. We're having to totally redesign, as our children will be much older by the time we get it built. Instead of having an upstairs, we're going to do a finished basement. Grace and Sam will have bedrooms down there, along with a bathroom and rec room. Miracle will get the "bonus room" over the garage. Since she'll be at least a senior when we move, I figure it'll be a step towards independence. Plus, when she goes off to college, I totally get her room!

Vacation

I was going to do a "Vacation Day 1", "... Day 2", ... etc but dang, that's a lot of work.

So here's a summary to date:
Day 1: Groundhog Day
My first day of vacation was spent trying to rid our yard of groundhogs. We had three, and one was... eliminated from further yard work, so we have two remaining. By the end of the day, I was down a box of smoke bombs and we still had two groundhogs. It ended well, however. I got to clown around at the Chilicothe Relay for Life.

Day 2: Wedding Bells
A friend of our got married today. We hadn't been to a wedding in forever. We've also been to a wide variety of weddings, so we had not a clue as to what to expect. It was an enjoyable wedding, which I am sure Ranelle will add detail to later. We made it a date and took no kids, and enjoyed watching other's children get into the music at the reception. We ended our day by packing up for our trip.

Day 3: Drive and Drive and Drive and Drive

Driving sums up the day, though we did get some breaks. At one of our rest stops, the kids ran around. I walked around, and Ranelle wouldn't climb the hill. Once we got there, the kids HAD to swim.

Day 4: Bumper Boats Rule:
We went to The Track today...

It's been kind've fun to watch.

Sometimes I Wonder...

  • why does a song I haven't heard in years suddenly invade my head and refuse to leave?
  • how can my little ones stand to repeat the same thing over and over, laughing all the while?
  • how does my husband make himself leave the house every morning to go to a job he doesn't even like?
  • who first decided to try some of the foods we eat, you know, lobsters, shrimp, mushrooms?
  • how do women walk in stilettos?
  • are cats really as dumb as they appear?
  • do all kids like to do weird stuff, or is it just mine?
  • how did Clark Kent fool anybody with only glasses?
  • what would I do if I won a million dollars?
  • is it really possible to have too much chocolate?

The Wicked Witch of the West Lives Here

...and this time it's not me!

Over the weekend, Miracle auditioned for another play, The Wizard of Wonderland, or Dorothy Meets Alice. She desperately wanted to be cast as the Wicked Witch.

She got her wish, heaven help us.
